A Better Start Evidence Review – Phase 1

Big Lottery have funded Parents 1st to explore the available evidence base and evaluated best practice in using volunteers, peer supporters and community champions during pregnancy and the first few years of life, drawing on experience and evidence from the UK and similar societies internationally.

Big Lottery want to understand which examples, models or methods were successful in contributing to better outcomes in pregnancy and early life for children, and in particular for the three developmental outcome areas of:

•             Communication and language;

•             Social and emotional development; and

•             Diet and nutrition
